Maxim Znak, an exceptional lawyer, attorney, and a political prisoner, marked his third birthday behind bars on September 4.
The Belarusian Association of Human Rights Lawyers congratulated Maxim and conveyed its support. Our "Right to Defense" project also joined in congratulating the attorney.
Previously, an album in solidarity with politically incarcerated attorneys, including Maxim Znak, was published, in which Maxim is portrayed in various facets — as an attorney, athlete, writer, and a bard.
While in prison, he wrote a book titled "Zekamerone", which has been published in Belarusian, Russian, English, German and Swedish.
The video features repressed Belarusian attorneys who had to leave the country (Alena Shinkarevich, Maria Kolesova-Hudilina, Ilya Salei, Julia Knyaz, Alvina Mingazova, Liudmila Kazak, Irina Kozikova, Tatiana Lishankova, Uladzimir Pylchenko, Siarhei Zikratski) reading one of Znak's stories, titled "Heta my" (“This is us”).
We remind you that Maxim Znak, like several other political prisoners, is being held incommunicado. His last letter, that came on February 9, 2023, remains his most recent correspondence.
