As it became known to our project, another lawyer brought to administrative responsibility for liking a post on social media is deprived of the right to practice. We are talking about Igor Leonidovich Stepanov, a lawyer with12 years of experience, head of the legal advice office of the Liozno district of the Vitebsk Regional Bar Association.
March 6, 2023 Stepanov I.L. was expelled from the Vitebsk Regional Bar Association by the decision of its council as a disciplinary sanction for "committing a misdemeanor that discredits the title of a lawyer, the bar and is incompatible with the practice of law." Prior to that, in February 2023, the lawyer was detained, an administrative protocol was drawn up against him under Art. 19.11. Part 2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus (dissemination of extremist materials) and was arrested for 15 days. The blame was placed on the fact that the lawyer liked the post on the page of the online store, included since August 2022 in the republican list of "extremist materials".
