The Zekameron written by political prisoner Maxim Znak has been shortlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize which is awarded annually to works of fiction published by small presses in the UK and Ireland. Maxim Znak's book was translated by Jim and Ella Dingley and published by Scotland Street Press.
The judges' comment on the prize website: “Deceptively light touch to these powerful stories by imprisoned Belarusian lawyer and activist. A truly important book.”
The winner of this year's prize will be announced on April 17th.
