Attorney Yulia Yurgilevich will be tried together with journalist Pavel Mazheika.
Yulia has 18 years of experience in the legal profession and has previously served as a defense lawyer for political prisoners Ales Pushkin, Artem Boyarsky, Igor Banzer, Andrei Osievich, and Andrei Sokolovsky. On February 23, 2022, she was expelled from the Grodno Regional Bar Association and subsequently left Belarus. Later, upon her return, she was detained and has been in custody for over 10 months.
Pavel is a journalist and coordinator of the publishing initiative Grodno Library, as well as the head of the Grodno Center for Urban Life. He was detained on the same day as Yulia.
Now they are accused of facilitating extremist activities (Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code). Their trial is scheduled to commence on July 10 at the Grodno Regional Court. The case will be considered by Judge Maxim Filatov.
